Diabetes mellitus is a condition that develops when the body stops producing insulin or no longer responds to insulin properly. A number of factors can lead to diabetes in your cat, including lack excess weight and obesity.  ROYAL CANIN® Feline Diabetic in Gravy supports the management of postprandial blood glucose (the sugar in your cat’s blood after eating). This is thanks to reduced levels of starch and a low glycaemic index.  Food with a low glycaemic index causes a slower rise in blood sugar than foods with a high glycaemic index.  

A diet that helps to maintain a healthy muscle mass in your cat is ideal when diabetes is a health concern. Overweight cats are usually less sensitive to the effects of insulin, so managing their weight often results in a more effective response to diabetic treatment. ROYAL CANIN® Feline Diabetic in Gravy is specifically tailored with a high level of protein and a moderate calorie content to support a healthy body weight.

As part of the ROYAL CANIN® Veterinary Range, it is important that this product is only given to your pet when recommended by a veterinary professional. To cater to each cat’s individual preferences, ROYAL CANIN® Feline Diabetic is also available as dry food with kibble. It is very important for cats with Diabetes to have a regular and consistent food intake.
